About Yvette Galliher
Yvette Marmen Galliher was born in Massachusetts, on Cape Cod. She was always interested in art as a child. However, painting began later when someone was kind enough to give her a set of oils. Now, painting has become a way of life.
Being Art Director of the high school newspaper helped her find ways to pursue art education. She attended the Rhode Island School of Design, St. Petersburg Junior College, and classes and workshops at the Gulf Coast Museum of Art.
Yvette is the winner of many awards and commissions, including twelve paintings exhibited by the National Museum of Art in Tokyo, Japan. Her work has been exhibited in invitational shows, galleries and private collections across the U.S. and abroad.
"I have no trouble finding subject matter; although people are my favorite studies, subject matter is just a starting point for me." Yvette finds that when she is painting, time stands still and she is filled with a deep sense of peace, power and joy. "I enjoy working with bold colors and shapes, and find people, vegetables and flowers perfect topics for this concept." She creates a sense of intimacy by isolating her subjects and moving in fo a close-up view.
Nearly all of my techniques have resulted from encountering problems and looking for solutions. In this way, I have moved from a traditional approach to a philosophy of whatever it takes to get the effect you need."

Since there are so many paintings of fruits, vegetables, and flowers, this index page allows you to see the names of the paintings (e.g. Pansies & Teacups), and go to that page from the index link above.
